2010 Spring Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals
Dr. Georg Jarzembowski and Count Georges Jacobs were conferred with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, and Mme. Paul Gobbens-Boterdael was conferred with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays by His Majesty Emperor of Japan on 29 April 2010.
The government of Japan decided to confer decoration on 62 foreign nationals on April 29. There were 3 conferees for their contributions to EU-Japan relationship.
These decorations were conferred by Emperor Akihito in recognition of Dr. Jarzembowski’s outstanding contributions to the development of Japan-European Union relations as former Chair of Delegation for relations with Japan at the European Parliament, Count Jacobs’s outstanding contributions toward promoting Japan-EU economic and Business relations as former Co-Chairman of the EU-Japan Business Round Table (BRT), and Mme. Boterdael’s contribution to the activities of the Japanese Overseas Establishment as a local employee of the Mission of Japan to the EU.
The decorations will be handed out to the conferees later in Brussels by H.E. Mr. Nobutake Odano, Ambassador of Japan to the EU on behalf of the Emperor of Japan.
